“Luxuriate” (2023)
in 2023, I was chosen to be featured in Luxe Magazine. Typically, I rush through big career milestones like this, brushing it off like no-big-deal, already moving onto the next thing..
However, this time I felt a shift. I paused, took a breath and wondered — how might I tend to this moment with care? How might I pause and be here, right now? How might I fully embody the sensation of celebration? I decided to celebrate this moment, I would create a collection around the theme of luxury, and I desired for this collection to be a co-creation. I turned to my community for inspiration, and 40 wonderful humans generously contributed thoughts and their own experiences of luxury.
And here is what I gathered:
Luxury is about slowing down, paying attention and noticing the textures on our skin, the tastes on our lips, the rhythm of our own breath. It’s about the espresso that hits our tongue, the sensual fragrance of a spritz of perfume and taking a little extra time in the shower (“an everything shower” as someone beautifully said). It’s not about what we possess in the form of things, it’s about what we possess in the form of moments. It’s about being feeling our toes on the earth and being fully in our bodies. It’s about the sensory experience of crisp sheets, a morning swim and a lovers skin grazing ours. It’s about luxuriating in cheesecake, dark chocolate and that first morning sip of coffee. It’s felt in the familiar laughter of a dear friend and the warm embrace of a loved one after too much time has passed. Luxury is for all of us, everyday, and luxury can be accessed in serene moments of solitude and gatherings amongst our dearest.
