The Motherhood Project is a collection of small mixed media works made during my first years of motherhood. What began as a project to help me make sense of the tangled web of identities (mother-artist-human) while mothering a newborn/infant — transformed into a project to support me in recentering and reclaiming a sense of self amidst mothering a wild, beautiful and demanding toddler. I self-title each piece a ‘container of devotion’ due to the cyclical nature to my art I’ve experienced since becoming a mother — each piece represents the devotion that resides deep within my bones + supports me in returning to the call of the artist.

Framing ideas: Hang in a floater frame, behind or in front of the mat or on a magnetic thumb tack on your wall

Media: hand-dyed + painted silk, embroidery

Size: 5x7"
